What stands out even more is he was consistently faster than his team mate Kovalainen, who eventually retired with brake problems.

Kimi Raikkonen expectedly allowed Massa t pass him and take the 8 pts for second, keeping some pressure on Lewis for the final race. Whilst the team are forbidden from telling drivers to allow moves such as that between Kimi and Felepe, there is nothing from stopping the drivers doing it themselves.

I expect Brazil to be a rivoting race, with lots of excitement and drama; both in qualifying and the race proper. I believe it will be a Ferrari one-two, but I believe that the Mclaren of Hamilton will finish either 3rd or 4th, well within the 5th place he needs to guarentee the championship.

Football hooligans must be stopped

The display shown by Rangers fans last night after they were in Manchester for the UEFA Cup final was despicable. In my opinion, whenever outbursts such as these take place radical steps should be taken to punish those responsible.

Rangers should have to play their next several games with none of their fans allowed into the stadium. TV coverage of their games should be limited, with all proceeds going to their opponents. Hopefully, after such measures are consistently employed the fans will think twice about acting in such a drunken and abusive manner.

Man Utd win 17th title

Man Utd are now one step away from matching Liverpool's record of 18 domestic league titles after beating Wigan 2-0. Chelsea meanwhile remain runners up after being unable to come up with anything more than a draw against Bolton.

Liverpool finished on a high beating Tottenham 2-0, with Fernando Torres firing in his 24th goal of the season, to go into the record books for the most goals in a debut season.

Hopefully next season Liverpool will be able to be in a better position to challenge for the top accolade. Hamilton opted for a bold 3-stop strategy opposed to the 2-stops used by the Ferrari's. Hamilton came within 5 seconds of Masa, but ultimately ended the race having to fight to stay ahead of Raikkonen.

The first corner of the race saw Giancarlo Fisichella collide with Kazuki Nakajima (see picture) after leaving braking too late. This is the third year in a row that he has retired from the Turkey Grand Prix after a first lap accident!

This race has seen the title race heat up even more with the standings now such that Massa and Hamilton trail Raikkonen by 7 points (35 to 28 a piece). However, it does seem that McLaren are beginning to close the gap between them and Ferrari pace-wise; particularly so with the hard tyres. A bit more work on getting the soft tyres to work with the car in a more synergistic manner and we could be in for an entertaining championship race.

Welcome to "The Sports Rambler"

This shall be my first post, and as such I will keep it short and sweet. I aim to use this blog as a way to share my opinions about sport. Such as teams I think will do well, decisions that I disagree with, and more!

I will tend to focus on football, and F1, since that is what I enjoy most. No doubt though that I will blog about many other sports too, such as tennis, rugby, sailing and whatever else takes my fancy!

Just so you all know a bit more about me, I support Liverpool Football Club; dating back to when I was 4 years old, and succumbed to peer pressure and supported them because my best friend's brother did! I also loathe (well, not really, but it sounds good!) Ferrari and follow McLaren's Lewis Hamilton.

So long for now, but I will most likely be back tomorrow after the final day of the Premiership, and the Spanish Grand Prix.
